University Of Science And Technology Meghalaya

The University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) was established under the provisions of the University of Science and Technology,  Meghalaya Act (No.6 of 2008) enacted by Legislative Assembly of Meghalaya State and notified vide Notification No LL(B)87/2008/21, dt. 02.12.2008 of Government of Meghalaya. The University has been empowered by the University Grants Commission, to award degrees as specified by the UGC under section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956. The USTM is sponsored by Education Research and Development Foundation (ERDF), Guwahati. The USTM will be established  in a 350 acres of picturesque landscape surrounded by mesmerizing greenery under Umduba area of 9th Mile in Ri-Bhoi District on the G S  Road. The permanent campus with its world class  infrastructure  is getting ready at  Umduba, Kiling Road, 9th Mile which is about 85 km from  the capital of  Meghalaya, Shillong & about 11 km from capital of Assam, Dispur. The University will  commence its first  academic session from September, 2011 temporarily at RIST, Techno City, Kiling Road, 9th Mile,  Meghalaya & subsequently USTM campus will be developed  at the permanent site.

Its strength is in it 600+ alumni base spread across the country in various sectors and profession, and their continuous effort towards establishing a strong placement network that enables as well as facilitates existing students with necessary training,

Adequate effort at USTM, as has been the belief in ERD Foundation has always been to equip its students with the best of educational inputs thereby enhancing their knowledge that is capable of equipping them with necessary skill set, experience and exposure through periodic field trips, mock drills and exercises, group discussions and a result oriented skill enhancing Add on Curriculum wherein a regular student is provided with an opportunity to acquire added certification through its various short term vocational/ skill enhancing courses/ curriculum as offered under various schools and centers.

Besides the activities and exercises as mentioned above, members from reputed companies are regular visitors for imparting industry relevant inputs within the purview of the flexible curriculum that USTM evolves from time to time and the same meaningfully lead towards in-campus placements for graduating students.

The national and international linkages of USTM and its curriculum which is designed to meet the changing demands of the industry, gives the students an advantage in the employment market.
