Vidya Devi Jindal School

Late Shri OP Jindal, former Member of Parliament, philanthropist, industrialist of Haryana had a vision for a progressive state where men and women would be equal to each other and in their equality lay the secret for the state's advancement.

The result of this vision was the birth of Vidya Devi Jindal School, a girls residential school at Hisar in Haryana (India). It was the maiden venture of the Vidya Devi Jindal Rural Development Trust established in 1981 by Shri OP Jindal. The school became functional in July 1984 and was granted affiliation by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the same year.

The motto of the school is enshrined in the Sanskrit words 'Vidya Jyoti Jeevan Jyoti' which means 'the light of knowledge is the light of life'. All efforts are directed towards the achievement of this objective considering that education is a social vehicle, which must drive you to forge ahead and be a carriage for new ideas.

At VDJS, a Residential School for Girls, the medium of teaching is the English language. The school provides education that nurtures the traditions of our culture and also absorbs the finer influences of the west. It focuses on all round development of personality and thorough education of girls in order to make them conscientious and responsible citizens. More importantly, the school imparts the right values and norms of behavior, thus helping the girl students enhance their confidence and poise.

VDJS has been pioneer in bringing a loud change in ‘Women Empowerment’ and extending the Teaches of education to the corners of the World.

The spacious campus boasts of an imaginative and inventively constructed academic wing, a utility block, a large auditorium, a health club, an infirmary, a dining hall with a seating capacity of 1000 students, an outdoor swimming pool, olympic size, indoor shooting range, a roller skating rink and four hostels to accommodate 800 students. Accommodation for all members of the school too is provided on the campus itself.

Admission Procedure

 
The selection of students for admission to class IV and above is made on the basis of a written test, aptitude and personal interview followed by a medical check-up by our Resident Medical Officer. The admission is finalized on the same day. The parents are supposed to deposit fee and complete all admission formalities on the same day.
 


 
No admissions are made to class X and XII as a policy matter.
 


 
Registration is no guarantee to admission.
 


 
The lower age limit in the hostel to class IV is 8+ on 1st April of the year of joining the school. Similarly relation of age and class to which admission is sought is an essential requirement. The date for the admission test is notified to the registered student by the school, well in advance.
 


 
Once admission is granted, the student is allotted a school admission number. All correspondence pertaining to the student should bear this number and all the articles brought from home by the student should be marked with this number.
 


 
The parents must obtain from the school office an Identity Card for themselves and other members of the family, who would be allowed to meet the student.

Students seeking admission to class IV and above must submit :

Original Transfer Certificate from a school affiliated to CBSE duly countersigned by Regional Officer CBSE.
                                           OR
Original Transfer Certificate duly countersigned by the District Education Officer in respect of students coming from other recognized/ non-recognized/ private schools.


 
Attested photocopy of the marks statement from the Board/School.


 
Original migration certificate from Board in respect of students admitted in classes XI and XII from other boards.


 
6 passport size photographs of the student.


 
2 passport size photographs of mother, father, persons authorized by parents to meet their ward.


 
Attested photocopy of the Certificate of School-Based Evaluation in respect of students admitted in class XI coming from schools affiliated to CBSE.


 
Class IX registration card issued by the CBSE in respect of students admitted in class X.


 
Agreement on non-judicial stamp paper as per the draft given by school.

Well - Equipped Departments : 
The school provides to the students, the usage of the department of Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Home Science, Psychology and the Guidance and Counseling Cell equipped with the most modern apparatus . These encourage students to learn through experiment and research. The school has an excellent art and sculpture department which fosters the artistic talents of the pupils. The music department equipped with various musical instruments, helps to discover the talents for music among the students, and endeavors to refine these faculties. The school boasts of an orchestra and school band par excellence which perform at all major school functions. The LRC is airy, pleasant and spacious with comfortable furniture providing a tranquil and serene atmosphere so essential for reading . The reference room with internet facilities can be used by students for serious work and individual study. TV seat to view educational video cassettes, multimedia computers, educational CDs, easy access to internet and various sites across the globe is available to the students at the click of a mouse. The LRC with its wide range of books to meet the demands and taste of every age group, endeavors to develop the reading habit and the appreciation of literature among the students. The various reference books on every subject help students to acquire in-depth knowledge and also develop independence in solving problems.
The LRC subscriber to a large number of news papers, journals, magazines and periodicals, thus keeping the students in touch with happenings in India and in the outside world.

The school is an institutional member of The British Council Library and The American Information Resource Center.

The Audio- Visual Department : 
The audio-visual department has a large numbers of CDs, video and audio cassettes on every subject. The language lab is a huge support to language learning. The students have an easy access to this knowledge as CDs and video films related to the syllabus are frequently shown to them, leading to the enhancement of the learning experience.

Educational Tours :

These ventures promote in student the spirit of adventure and love for nature. The adventure sports provide them an opportunity to learn about local flora and fauna, interact with local people and appreciate nature at its very best. Besides, these also help students in developing tremendous confidence and self reliance. Students also participate in many interesting adventure like film shows, exhibition on endangered wild life, cultural heritage, discussions, seminars etc. during such pursuits.


Physical Education :

The purpose of athletic training in VDJS is not only to develop a healthy body but to discover the limits of personal endurance or weaknesses and ones unique physical make-up. It develops in the students sense of fair play and team spirit and the joy of discovering ones own abilities. To encourage a healthy spirit of competition, and for physical well-being of the students, the school provides facilities and opportunities for a variety of game and sports-outdoor and indoor. These include hockey , basket-ball, tennis, badminton, volley ball, athletics, throw ball, swimming, table tennis, martial arts take-won-do, karate and roller skating. The school also boasts of an international standard 400 meter track and a 20 x 40 meter roller skating rink. A physical fitness programme for the borders is part of daily routine - this includes morning PT, yoga, meditation and aerobics.
