Sainik School Purulia is a residential English Medium Public School for boys imparting Public School Education with a Military bias in the state of West Bengal. The administration of the schools is vested in an autonomous body called the Board of Governors under the chairmanship of the Union Minister of Defence. The Chief Ministers and Education ministers of the states where the Sainik Schools are located, are also members of the board of Governors. |

| its day to day administration is run by a Deputy secretary (T & C) of the Ministry of Defence, who is designated as Honorary Secretary, Sainik School Society. He is assisted by two Inspecting Officers of the rank of Colonel/Brigadier and equivalent ranks of Navy and Air Force. Computer & Lab
Computer training has been introduced as a part of School curriculum and as a Subject at +2 Level. All the students get the training in Computer and access to the facility of e-mail and internet. All cadets from classes VI to XII are given training in the courses like C++ , Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, FrontPage, GW-BASIC, Visual Basic, HTML. Cadets make projects and represent the school at district and state level Computer Fairs and bring laurels to the school.
Well equipped laboratories exist in the school for Physics, Chemistry and Biology where the cadets are encouraged to learn the things practically. Different types of practical are performed
Besides normal academic, co-curricular and associate activities, this institution following the healthy tradition of an ideal 'gurukul', always endeavors to draw out the best in each individual cadet. Keeping their complete personality development in view 20 clubs- English, Bengali, Hindi, Literary & Editorial club, Physics, chemistry, Maths, biology, computer, geography, social service, library, art & craft, dramatics & music and yoga , each under the supervision of a teacher and organization of a student in charge functions regularly. The efforts of the cadets culminates in preparation of models, charts and a lot many exhibits which are put up to annual exhibition, sports field and Annual function.
