RAIGAD MILITARY SCHOOL is located at ACHALOLI, about 5 kilometers away from MAHAD in District Raigad (Maharashtra). Raigad district is well known for it's glorious tradition of providing the bulk of soldiers to the Armed Forces, right from the days of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

In the year 1990, a group of freedom fighters, under the leadership of the late Nanasaheb Purohit and the present Chairman, Shri Prabhakar (Abasaheb) Kunte, took the initiative in establishing this school. The Maharashtra Govt. allotted 11 acres of land for this purpose. Later, the school acquired an additional 20 acres of land for it's infrastructure including the School Building, the Hostel, the Mess, the Gym, the Staff Quarter and the Bungalows for the Commandant and Principal - Covering an area of 90,000 Sq. ft.
