Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Leh  was established in the year 1986 and was running in a temporary building near S.N.M hospital Leh Ladakh (J&k) and in the year 2004, it was shifted to the  new location which is located at a distance of 06 kms from Leh in the way to Leh - Manali road. The school is a residential school and is under Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti of Human Resource Development department of India.

Admission for 6th

Admission in a Jawahar Navodaya vidyalaya takes palce on the basis of a selection test designed and  conducted  by the CBSE the test is called the Jawahar Navodaya vidyalaya selection test (JNVST) .It is of non-verbal nature,calss neutral and so designed to ensure that talent childern from rural areas are able to compete with out facing any disadvantage .Because of the inadequate communication  facilties  in rural areas special care is taken to ensure that childern  from far flung areas get admission forms,free of cost ,without any difficuty.

To apper in the JNVST  candidate has to  fulfill the fallowing eligibility conditions :

   

Only the candidates  from the district where the Jawahar Navodaya vidyalaya has been opned are eligible to apply  for admission .

   

A condidate appearing for the selection test must be studying  in class-V through out the academic session in a Government /Government-aided or  other recognised schoolor school under schemes of 'sarva shiksha abhiyan' or 'B' certificate competency course of National Institute of open schooling in the same district where he /she is seeking admission.

   

A condidate seeking admission must be within the age group between 9-13 year .

   

i) A codidate  claiming admission from rural quota must have studied and passed classes-iii,iv,and v from Govt. /Govt. aided /recognised school in  the preceeding three year spending one full academic session each year in a school located in the  rural area with out nerepetition of class gap and break in attendance.

ii) Candidates who will be passed class-v from schemes of 'sarva shiksha abhiyan'or 'B' certificate competency course of National Institute of open schooling on or before 30th sep are also eligible for the admission test.

   

No candidate is eligible to the selection test for a second time under any circumstances.




Admission for 9th

In order to to optimally utilise the infrasteructure and staff facilties available in Jawahar Navodaya vidyalaya, it has been decided to fill up the vacant seates in class-9th through an All India level selection test . During the year 2006-07 JNVST for class 9th was conducted on 04 june 2006 in in 451 Jawahar Navodaya vidyalaya.

To apper in the JNVST  candidate has to  fulfill the fallowing eligibility conditions :

   

Only those candidates who have studied in class 8th in one of the Govt./Govt. recognised  schools
of the district where the JNV is functioning can seek admission in class-iX.

   

A condidate seeking admission must be within the age group between 13-16 years on ist may of the
year of admission for which the selection test is coducted .

   

Medium of language for examination is English, Hindi.



Admission for 11th

Admission of students in class-X1 against vacant seats

JNV has decided to admit students against available vacancies , at the level of class -X1 on  basis  of marks secured by students in class-x board exam.
Eligibility Condition for admission in class-X1

To apper in the JNVST  candidate has to  fulfill the fallowing eligibility conditions :

   

The student registered for the admission in class-X1 shall be within the age limit 14-18 years as on 1st june.

   

The condidate must have passed class-x from a recognized school of the district where the JNV is
located during the academic session for which admission is sought in a JNV.

   

For admission to class X1,criteria of CBSE/other education board marks may be opted for admission .The merit list  will be prepared accordingly and the admission will be given as per seats available in the JNVs.

   

The condodate must have reasonable competency in English and Hindi for the science and Mathematices and the subjects of Humanities/commerce respectivly.

Scheme of studies

Streams available in JNV will be allotted to students as per the fallowing criteria:

Science with mathematics

   

Aggregate marks in class X : 45%

   

Science : A minimum of 50% marks.

   

Mathematices :  A minimum of 45% marks.

   

Science and Mathematics put together: A minimum of 100 marks.

Science without mathematics

   

Aggregate  in class-X : 45%.

   

Science : A minimum of 50%.

Commerce ,Humanities and Vocational streams

There is no restriction of marks in offering these streams .however , if Mathamitics has to be offered as paper under these streams ,then a minimum of 45% of marks in Mathamitics is compulsory.

SC = 15%

ST = 7.5%

Girls = 33%

Urban Candidates = 25%

Boys =67 %

Rural Candidates = 75%

 
 

Computer Facilities

NVS has given atmost importance to computer education in JNVs. JNV leh have been well equipped with neede hardware and software traning is beeing given to all staff of JNVs. 24 hour internet connections through VSAT connectivity is beeing given to JNV Leh. Our VSAT id is 1392,we have also developed our own wesite ,the website address is www.jnvleh.org.in. Teachers and students have started using information and
communication  technology in teaching - learing process very effectivly.
