JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYA, Valasapalle, Chittor was established in 1986-87 by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samithi, an autonomous organization set up under the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The Vidyalaya is affiliated to C.B.S.E. New Delhi.
Initially the Vidyalaya was temporarily located in the buildings of AP Travel & Tourism Development Corporation at Horsley Hills and continued ther from 1986-87 to 1991-92. Subsequently the A.P. state Government allotted 43.94 acres of land to the Vidyalaya at Valasapalle village, 5 Kms from Madanapalle on the Madanapalle-Chennai high way Road.
The construction of the buildings was handed over to National Industrial Corporation Ltd., New Delhi. The Zero phase was completed in the year 1992. The lower classes were shifted to the permanent site in July 92' and the higher classes remained in the temporary site till the completion of phase I works at the permanent site in May 95'. The full Vidyalaya is functioning at permanent site w.e.f. 1995.
