Bidhan Nagar Govt. High school was established on April 18, 1977 with only 50 students. It was started as a secondary school only. The first Head-master was Sri. Satyendranath Ray, whose excellent administrative skills and tireless perseverance lifted the school to the elite class. In its early days BNGHS was surrounded by lush green fields and lots of trees. The school building is one of the oldest buildings in Salt Lake. Literally it has seen the whole Salt lake to get urbanized around it.
