The Aditya Birla Public School, Awarpur, formerly known as Stella Maris Convent High School, was established in the year 1982 with the aim of imparting sound, moral, intellectual and physical education to the children of the employees of Awarpur Cement Works, its associates and residents of the nearby villages under the aegis of the erstwhile Larsen & Toubro Ltd. The school was rechristened to its present name – 'The Aditya Birla Public School' in the year 2008, and today it boasts of being an ISO 9001:2008 certified school. It is located at Awarpur in the district of Chandrapur, Maharashtra - 40 km from Balharsha Railway station and 220 km from Nagpur Air Port. The Aditya Birla Public School is an English medium co-educational institution affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and follows the CBSE pattern from Class I to X. The school follows the Maharashtra State Board of Higher Secondary Education for classes XI & XII in the science stream and is presently in the process of a change over from State Board to Central Board. Ever since its inception, the school has grown immensely in stature and strength, and today it has 853 students and 40 staff on its rolls, catering to the needs of the students from Pre Primary to Senior Secondary.
