Right to Education Campaign to Commence from Today

The government is all set to launch Right to Education campaign in India known as “Shiksha ka Abhiyaan” on National Education Day, 11th of November. As per the sources through this campaign Prime Minister of India will plea to the students of India to focus on their studies. The statement will be delivered in 13 lakh schools of India on Children’s Day.
At the same time, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh (UP) can also be heard inspiring the students of UP by briefing them about her struggles in life.
However, Right to Education (RTE) implementation in Maharashtra has been a big flop. It is reported that RTE scheme in Maharashtra is not working fluently as proposed earlier and the results are not as expected. It will be a major concern for 97,000 schools of Maharashtra as the admission season begins.
Though government of India is promoting RTE as its big flagship program, it has failed to even inform the schools of Maharashtra about the rules of the act. Most of the school authorities are not clear about the rules of the act and don’t know how to proceed with it.
Moreover, most of the schools in the state are still facing faculty crunch and lack proper infrastructure. About 45% of the funds allocated for implementing the act in a state has to be recovered from the state itself but the budget has not even been allocated for.
HRD Minister has criticized big states of India for not implementing RTE act successfully even after 2 years of its approval. While education sector in India is in its critical phase let us see how much swing it can get from RTE campaign!
The programme is aimed at making people aware of the Act, which ensures compulsory and free education to children between the age group of six and 14.
