DU students bid adieu to ‘Bhupen da’

The meeting was organized by ‘Pooberun’, a student body, and was also attended by a few faculty members from DU. Shakya Shamik, a student of Hindu College, presented a short narrative on the legend that was Bhupen Hazarika, leaving many students in tears. Popular songs of Dr Hazarika, both Assamese and Hindi, were played on the occasion. Tanmoy Sharma, student of Kirori Mal College, said: “Bhupen Hazarika was one of the greatest cultural communicators of South Asia. He was acultural icon, who will be missed.”
Meanwhile, another Northeastern body, the North East India Image Managers, will hold a condolence meeting on Monday. In statement released on Saturday evening, the body said in Dr Hazarika, the country lost a man who bridged different cultures. TNN
