Description


 

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE 2013) is conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board WBJEE 2013 for admission to various professional courses in various fields of Engineering /Architecture/ Technology / Medical / Dental  and Pharmacy in various Universities/Colleges in West Bengal.A large number of candidates from across the state of West Bengal appear for WBJEE 2013 every year for admission in these courses.

Candidates who want to apply for Engineering and Architecture courses have to appear for Paper 1 & 2. Candidates who want to apply for Medical & Dental Courses have to appear for Paper 2 & 3. Candidates who want to apply for Pharmacy courses have to appear for Paper 2 and either Paper 1 or Paper 3. Candidates who want to apply for all the courses can appear for all the three papers.

The applicant must be a citizen of India and should have passed the H.S.(10+2) or its equivalent examination. The general candidates must have to secure at least 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology taken together (40% for SC/ST candidates) and at least 30% marks in English (for all categories).

In addition, candidates must secure at least pass marks in the subjects individually including vernacular (or any other fifth subject) as mentioned below:

B.E/B.Tech./B.Arch :Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.

Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in 2012 will be allowed to sit for JEM-2013 provisionally and their admission, if merit listed, will be subjected to satisfying the minimum requirements of eligibility as specified above.

Age Restriction : Candidates must be 17 (seventeen) years of age or above as on 31.12.2012. There is no upper age limit except for the Marine Engineering course for which the upper age limit is 25 years as on 31.07.2012.
Residential Requirements: Candidates desirous of seeking admission to Government Engineering / Technology Colleges, Govt. Medical and Dental Colleges as well as to Private Medical and Dental Colleges, must have been residing in the State of West Bengal continuously at least for last 10 (ten) years as on 31.12.2011 or their parents must be permanent resident of West Bengal having their permanent home address in the State of West Bengal.
Reservation : Reservation for SC/ST/PC candidates are as per State Govt. Rules.

Eligibility criteria for Marine Engineering: The candidates who are appearing for Marine Engineering in WBJEE 2013 must have a minimum aggregate of 60% in subjects of Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics with a minimum of 50% in English at the level of 10th and 12th class and should have passed all the subjects individually in order to be eligible as per WBJEE 2013 Eligibility Criteria.


 

The pattern of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) for admission to engineering degree courses is as follows:

Paper 1: Math

Paper 2: Physics and Chemistry

Paper 3: Biology

The question paper consists of multiple Choice type Questions (MCQ) and short answer type questions .80% marks is allotted to Multiple Choice type Questions (MCQ), (four options including single correct answer) and 20% marks will be allotted to short answer type questions. For each incorrect response (answer) 33.33% of mark is deducted.

Math Paper Contsists 100 marks. Physics and Chemistry each Paper Consists 75 marks. Biology Paper Consists 100 marks.

Time Duration for each paper 1 and Half  Hour.
