Instrumentation And Control Engineering

Instrumentation and Control stream is a combination of both instrumentation and Control subjects.

In Instrumentation part we have study Here we can study about many kind of Instrument by which we can measure or regulate physical quantity and process variable such as Temperature, Flow, Level, and Pressure.

In Control part we have study that applies control theory to design systems with desired behaviors.

There are many types of instruments.

Temperature measuring instrument are given below:

  •
  •     ·         Thermocouple-it is a tempeture measuring circuit.
  •     ·         RTD-it use for measure temperature by correlating the resistance of the RTD element with temperature
  •     ·         Thermistor- it use for measuring and control of tempeture.

Flow measuring instrument are given below:

  •
  •     ·         Turbine flow meter- Turbine flow meters are used for the measurement of natural gas and liquid flow.
  •     ·         Venturi meter
  •     ·         Orifice plate

Level measuring instrument are given below:

  •     ·         Radar
  •     ·         Ultrasonic range finding

Pressure. measuring instrument are given below:

  •     ·         McLeod gauge
  •     ·         Bourdon
  •     ·         Diaphragm

Different types of Valves:

  •
  •     ·         Two-port valves
  •     ·         Three-port valves
  •

some more instrument for various purpose.like

CRO-It convert current,strain,pressure with help of transducer.it is also use investigate waveforms.

This all kind instrument produces an output signals may be in current (4-20mA), voltage, frequency etc.

Now this signal is sent to the PLC, DCS, SCADA, Lab View or other types of computerized system where it converted into readable values.

control theory:

here we study like uses sensors to measure the output performance of the device being controlled and those measurements can be used to give feedback to the input actuators that can make corrections toward desired performance. When a device is designed to perform without the need of human inputs for correction it is called automatic control . control systems engineering activities focus on implementation of control systems mainly derived by mathematical modeling of systems of a diverse range.

Syllabus for ICE student

 Now days ICE student  have many kind of individual job.like.

  1.     designing and developing new control systems;
  2.     maintaining and modifying existing systems;
  3.     managing operations;
  4.     working collaboratively with design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers and other internal staff;
  5.     liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities (e.g. the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority);
  6.     project management within cost and time constrained environments;
  7.     troubleshooting and problem-solving;
  8.     understanding and ensuring compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards of the country in which work is undertaken;

 The pay-scale for the beginners is Rs 10000-Rs15000 per month. The senior professionals get              Rs 35,000-50,000 per month because of experience,knowledge and skill.

 Engineers can get job in private sectors like N.F.L., BHEL, Honeywell, Samsung I, IOCL, and SAIL or in heavy industries such as Thermal Power Stations, Steel Plants, Refineries, and Cement and Fertilizer Plants BOTH IN Govt. as well as in many IT sector companies like TCS, Infosys, and Accenture where huge number of electronics & instrumentation engineers are required. Electronics & instrumentation engineers can make their career bright because the scope of the electronics instrumentation is vast and growing rapidly due to the increased use of automatic control in process plants.

The candidate must have passed higher secondary examinatio (10+2) from any renowned institution with science subjects like physics, chemistry and maths. The duration of bachelor degree is 4 years.

For pursuing the master degree one must has to  pass bachelor degree with ICE or any other equivalent branch. the span of this course is 2 years.
