National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), established in 1963 by the Government of India with the assistance of United Nations Development Project (UNDP) through the International Labour Organization (ILO), is one of the leading institutes for management education. NITIE has been providing solutions to the complex problems of industries and business, taking cognizance of ever changing needs of the dynamic business environment. Located in the picturesque surroundings of north Mumbai and flanked by Powai and Vihar Lakes, it provides an ideal ambience for academic pursuit. Since its inception in 1963, NITIE has achieved significant milestones in the course of its progress. NITIE's continuous contacts with industries have culminated in the establishment of an Industry-Institute Interaction Cell, which undertakes various studies including bench marking which are immense use to the nation.
The final placement process 2009 at the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai, involved 30 first time recruiters with students being offered new profiles in the field of Micro Finance, Telecom and Human Resources. The highest salary offered was Rs 15 lakhs per annum (by Hindustan Uni Lever), while the average salary was Rs 10.27 lakhs per annum and median Rs 10.25 lakhs per annum. The salary figures showed substantial decrease from that of last year’s. The highest salary decreased by 28 percent and the average by 22 percent.
