The college is established in the year of 1964. It is a pioneer institution to provide holistic learning to the students to face future challenges. The college also provides the accomodation to the students as well as the exelent library facility and computer centre. It provides MBBS degree for 5.5 years. Calcutta National Medical College has its origin in the National Medical Institute or "Jatiya Ayurbigyan Vidyalaya" in 1921.
The students are placed into govt. medical hospitals after completion of their degree. Even they have to clear a state board exam to enter in that hospitals as a junior Doctor.
