Yashwantrao Chavan College of Science, Karad was established in 1958 as Science College Karad with an objective of providing education in science to students of the Karad area in Maharashtra. To keep his memory alive, the college was renamed after him in 1986. The college building inaugurated in 1960 by the then President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad is located in a sprawling campus of around 40 acres and has flourished under the able stewardship of Late Hon. Shri P. D. Patil. Today Yashwantrao Chavan College of Science, Karad is one of the premier educational institution in this region. This college is a non-autonomous grant-in-aid institution affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
The cell is actively engaged in organising campus interviews of reputed industries who recruit there students in large numbers. The placement cell gathers information of recruitment policies of industries and disseminates it to there students in order that they may participate in the selection process with full confidence. It also maintains a database on current and past students to provide to industries for their recruitment process. The placement cell also arranges lectures, seminars, workshops, etc on future progression, career guidance and personality development to guide students in shaping their future in a better manner.
