Y.C. Institute Of Science

 Yashawantrao Chavan Institute of Science is located at Satara, a historical city. It was started by Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Asia’s largest educational institute, founded by late Dr. Karmveer Bhaurao Patil in June 1958 as a science wing of Chh. Shivaji College , Satara. In 1965 it was renamed as Yashawantrao Chavan Institute of Science, in the honor of Mr. Yashawantrao Balwantrao Chavan, former deputy Prime minister of India and then President of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara. Today it is one of the best science institutes among all the colleges affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

The Institute has 12 Departments, apart from the junior wing on the campus that are described in detail in the pages to come. On the campus, it has facilities like internet connectivity, complete infrastructure for all research activities, ladies hostel, boy’s hostel, Study room, reading hall, book bank facility for students, playground, Placement Cell, Competitive Examination Guidance Center, well equipped library, botanical Garden, Art Center, Gymkhana, YCMOU’s sub center, well equipped laboratories and quarters for administrative staff.


Placement

 The cell is actively engaged in organising campus interviews of reputed industries who recruit there students in large numbers. The placement cell gathers information of recruitment policies of industries and disseminates it to there students in order that they may participate in the selection process with full confidence. It also maintains a database on current and past students to provide to industries for their recruitment process. The placement cell also arranges lectures, seminars, workshops, etc on future progression, career guidance and personality development to guide students in shaping their future in a better manne
