Vel Tech Rangrajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science & Technology, Chennai was established in 2002 with an annual intake of 180 students in Civil, ECE and Chemical Branches. The College is affiliated to Anna University and approved by AICTE offering 4 year B.E./B.Tech Programmes in EEE, ECE, CSE, IT, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical & Bio-Tech. The College also offers 2 year PG Programmes leading to conferment of MBA& MCA degrees.
The College has excellent infrastructural facilities which facilitate hands on experience to students to master their skills in various disciplines. Management sponsors teaching faculty to acquire higher qualifications leading to Post Graduate and Doctoral degrees.The sprawling campus of Veltech was established with the approval of AICTE, New Delhi, for providing high quality technical education. Since then, it has been offering programmes leading to the award of B.E, B.Tech, M.E, M.Tech, M.Sc, MBA degrees of Anna University, Chennai.
The high quality of technical education at Veltech earned accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi for all the degree programmes. Now Veltech has been duly declared as Deemed to be university u/s 3 of the UGC Act 1956 by the UGC and notified by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi.

The responsibility of an educational institution does not end with making student a graduate but creating an opportunity for him/her to become a professional. The Chairman, Vel Shri. Dr. R. Rangarajan showed immense importance to ensure that all students leave the campus with a job in hand. Placement drive starts off once the students enter their pre-final year. The University achieves mammoth task of being the best in the industry to our placement drive. It has several clearly focused strategies to further substantially increase the count. 92% placement has been achieved this year. Free summer training camps with the support of corporates are organized annually. We are planning to train 40 students in a class in the 3rd semester in the forthcoming academics.
