Tura Polytechnic was started in 2003 under the World Bank assisted Tech D.III. Initially it was housed at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School, Tura from 2003 to 2005 before shifting to its present location at Cherangre near Tura Public School. The first principal of this institute was Mrs. Babina T. Sangma from 2003 to 2007. The polytechnic provides facilities for study in diploma courses in Engineering after H.S.L.C.(10+).
