The college was established by Gujarat Vyayam Pracharak Mandal, Rajpipla in 1985. The main purpose of establishing this college was to prepare highly qualified professional leaders in the field of Physical Education and Sports, promote responsiveness in fitness concept and enhance status of physical education in society by offering degree and post-graduate course for the first time in the Gujarat. Bachelor's degree programme was started in 1985; a two year Master's Degree course was introduced in 1992-93. The college is affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat.

Vision:
It has been our goal to enhance to physical health as wealth of the youths of Gujarat and it bearing on their firm and unflinching determination to serve nation, we have been striving hard to enable them to realize this vision through exercises, sports and other physical activities. Body is not meant for body only but for the dedication of it for the service of mankind and nation remains our main motto since genesis. Our aim is not produce citizens having good physique along with all good attributes of power, character and courage fearlessness, sturdy and patriotic zeal. When it calls for sacrifice and complete dedication to serve people and nation, if anyone develops frosty feet, he or she has not imbibed the sense of true training from our temple of excellence; hence, they could not be dubbed as our product, which is our firm conviction.

Our mission is to shape up devotee, disciplined and dexterous professionals of physical education and sports sciences enable to serve the society with high moral and loyal to their duties towards building future generation of our country & strong nation. 

Objectives of The College:
• To prepare highly qualified leaders in the field of Physical Education and Sports.
• To serve as a Centre of Excellence and innovation in Physical Education and to carry    out, endorse and propagate research in this field.
• To provide professional leadership to other institutions in the field of Physical Education.
• To promote Health, Fitness awareness and encourage mass participation in Physical    Education and Sports.
• To develop and promote programmes of Physical Education and Sports in the Gujarat   State.

Preface
Acknowledging the importance of physical education under new education policy, Government of India has accorded it recognition as an integral part of education. As a result, it has given rise to a necessity of increasing number of qualified and scientifically trained physical education teachers. Living up to the demand of the situation and in responding to the invitation of department of education, Gujarat Vyayam Pracharak Mandal has established ‘Shri Chhotubhai Purani Degree College of Physical Education, Rajpipla’, three-year graduation course in physical education affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, in 1985-86. There after M.P.E course was introduced in 1992-93 under the same university within a short time span. Institution is making effort to introduce M.Phil. course in physical education in near future also.

This college has earned the distinction of becoming the first ever institute to start B.P.E. and M.P.E degree courses in physical education in Gujarat. It also undertakes various public welfare programmes in collaboration with Gujarat Vyayam Pracharak Mandal, Rajpipla.
