Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology Surat is popular with the name National institute of Technology Surat (NIT Surat or SVNIT). It is the one of the seventeen Regional Engineering Colleges which were established with a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat. The institute came into existence in July 1961 to deliver Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. This NIT Surat was created with the motive to train scientists and engineers to meet the country’s growing need of R&D and Technical Manpower. NIT Surat provides courses for undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral programs in Engineering, Technology, Management and Humanities.
Campus-
SVNIT Surat is situated in Surat which is the main city of Gujarat and also among the major cities of the country. The port city of Surat is an industrial hub with high living standards which is located in the southern part of Gujarat. SVNIT Surat is located on the Athwa-Dumas Road and the campus is opposite to the Ichchhanath Temple, Piplod. The campus of SVNIT Surat is spread in an area of 250 hectares of land which is covered with lush-green forest and beautiful natural environment. Being on the highway, the campus is well connected with the transport facilities. Inside the campus, all the facilities which include guest house, day care centre, dispensary, canteen and others day to day needs of the students can be fulfilled.
The placement Statistics at SVNIT Surat is quite good and there have been major placements at the institute. Around 400 students got placed till now in major companies such as-
