SVNIT is is one of the 17  original regional iengeneering college which have now been changed to National Institute of technology.It was established as a joint venture between the Govt of india and the govt of gujrat in the year 1961.It is undoubtedly one of the most prstigious college of engineering in india.IThe total intake of teh college is 426 ,out of which 50% of the seats are filled through the state reservation quota nad the rest 50% are filled up through AIEEE .out of the total 426 seats 20 seats have ben reserved for foreign students.

The college has been given the deemed university status.The college has a lush green campus spread over an area of 250 hectares and is well connected to the Airport and railway station by  local buses and trains.

The campus has incampus health centers,gymnasium,central computer lab with high speed internet connection,an entrepreneurship and development cell.The campus also has an indoor stadium,cricket field,volley ball court,basket ball arena ,a large an spacious aampitheater.It also has in its campus a post office ,a  branch of SBI etc.

The college canteen serves tasty and healty food to the students.

THe college offers both Undergraduate and post graduate courses.

Since it is an NIT ,this college has a very active Training and Placement cell.
