SJM Institute of technology (SJMIT) was established in the academic year 1980-81, with blessings of then president of SJM Vidyapeetha Sri Mallikarjuna Murugharajendra Mahaswamiji. Located just adjacent to the National Highway-4, SJMIT has a clean green campus with all facilities spread over a vast area of 35 acres.

The college is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi, approved by Govt. of Karnataka and affiliated to Visveswariah Technological University (VTU) Belgaum. We are one of the recognized and authorized institutes to transfer the technology and courses offered by the joint collaboration of VTU Belgaum and C-DAC (Center for the development of Advanced computing) Government of India.

The institute is reinforced with experienced, highly qualified and dedicated faculty in all braches, labs, computer center and Library for the academic development of the students. Other facilities like boys hostel, separate girls Hostel, Play grounds, indoor games, gymnasium, reading rooms, canteen and other student requirements/amenities also exist in the campus. In summary, our campus is a clean, green, healthy, secured, disciplined boundary, best suited for a student to explore his/her higher education.
Placement
We are equipped with a placement cell in the campus that takes care of arrangement of various job opportunities for the candidates in their respective fields. Students are intimated about the schedule of interviews as per the company's visits held in the campus or off campus.
On of the major tasks of placement cell is to provide support to the students about how to face the interviews, written tests, group discussion, task handling etc. These are considered as regular activities for the students of pre-final and final year. Sending students for industrial training/ vocational interaction accelerates the enhancement of training activities. Interviews are also arranged at our Bangalore based head Office for the companies who cannot visit our campus at Chitradurga.
