R S P College, Dhanbad was established in 1949 by the Raja of Jharia, Raja Kali Prasad Singh. In the year 1951, the college got temporary affiliation with Patna University. Later in 1952, the college achieved permanent affiliation of Bihar University. The college is the premier and well known college in Dhanbad. It is the second oldest constituent unit of VBU, Hazaribag. In 2006, the college was accredited by NAAC and was the first constituent unit of the university to acquire NAAC accredition. The college offers under graduate and post graduate courses in Arts, Science and Commerce streams.
The college has good placement record. It provides various opportunities to the students for their better placement. It provides placement cell for helping the final year students in their placement activities. It provides highly qualified and experienced faculty to train the students. There are many major companies in which students of this college are working according to their eligibility.
