PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh was established on November 9, 1921 as Mugalpura Engineering College later which was known as Maclagan Engineering College.The college got affiliated to Punjab University in the year 1931.
The Govt. of India notified the Punjab Engineering College in October 2003 as a Deemed University. In 1994 this institution was awarded as the best technical college in India by the National Foundation of Engineers.
It is spread over an area of 146 acres.
