National Institute of Technology Sikkim is a newly opened NIT in India by MHRD of Indian Government raising the total number of NITs in India to 30. NIT Sikkim is introduced under the 11th Five Year Plan of the Government of India. NIT Sikkim like other NITs have the same vision of providing the excellent platform of the learning the technologies in a better and most efficient way. Thus making their students aware of the practical knowledge and application of the technologies they learn as well. NIT Sikkim is being mentored by NIT Calicut and growing to its highest pace of governance. The mode of courses and examinations that are conducted in the institute is English only. NIT Sikkim is taking admissions in the Bachelor degree courses in the field of Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering.

Campus-

Presently NIT Sikkim is conducting their academic session in a temporary campus which is located at Barfung Block, Ravangla Sub Division of South Sikkim. The permanent campus of NIT Sikkim is yet to come up. The permanent campus will be at Khamdong, Sikkim which will be managed by the NIT Sikkim Society. NIT Sikkim provides all the facilities as the other NITs have made available at their own.
