National Institute of Technology, Rourkela was established in 15 August 1961 under the then Chief Minister of Odisha, Biju Patnaik and foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. It is one of top 30 NIT in India and recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. NIT is the dream college of every student.National Institute of Technology, Rourkela is formerly known as the Regional Engineering College (REC). It is one of the top most engineering college. It is the premier national level institutions for technical education in India. It have the largest engineering campus in India after IIT Kanpur.
