National Institute of Technology Meghalaya is one of the total 30 NITs which are being managed and fully funded by Ministry of Human Resource Development. NIT Meghalaya is an Institute which has now earned the status of an Institute of National Importance. NIT Meghalaya is aimed at providing the excellent academic learning with the equal involvement of the students in the various extra-curricular activities as well. The only mission of the NIT Meghalaya is to impart the quality education in the field of Engineering, Science and Technology and thus creating a better and technical sound group of manpower for the Economical development of the country.
Campus-
The academic sessions of NIT Meghalaya is being conducted in a temporary campus at the North Eastern Hill University, Bijni Complex located in Laitumkhrah, Shillong. The Institute has been allotted a plot of land of about 200 acres in Sohra (Cherrapunjee) in the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya for building its permanent campus. The campus of NIT Meghalaya has all sorts of facilities made available to the students so as they can carry on their leaning with ease and effectively.
