National Institute of Technology Goa is one of the premier institutes and also one of the 10 newly opened NITs in India by the MHRD of the Indian Government. NIT Goa is one of the leading technical institutes opened to extend the boundaries of the technical education in the country. It is aimed at emerging as the excellent institution running the technical courses in their campus in India. The academic sessions at NIT Goa was started in the year 2010 with the three engineering departments which are Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Computer Sciences & Engineering. NIT Goa is being mentored by the National Institute of Technology Karnataka.

Campus-

The academic sessions of NIT Goa is being conducted at a temporary campus in Farmagudi, Ponda which is about 29 Kms in the southeast of the capital city of Goa. At the present, the campus of NIT Goa is in Goa Engineering College (GEC) located at Farmagudi, Goa. An area of 300 acres has beenidentified by the Indian Government for the permanent campus of NIT Goa which is expanded from Cuncolim to Balli.
