Jyoti Nivas College was founded by the sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes in 1966. It is a minority Christian College which was established in order to impart quality education in the fields of Liberal Arts, Commerce and Science to the women aspirants of Karnataka state. The college is affiliated to Bangalore University. The college was graded with a five star status by NAAC in 1998. The college was recognized as a College with Potential for Excellence by UGC(University Grants Commssion) in 2004. The college provides many facilities to its students like a well ventilated infrastructure, an auditorium, library, canteen, hostel facility, Internet, Gymnasium, Bank, telephone booth.
The college has a counseling Center which has been involved in guiding students regarding their career prospectives.
