Jabalpur Engineering college was established on 7TH JULY, 1947. This was the second engineering college of India and emerged as a premier institution all over the globe. This college has been declared as an autnomous college by the government of Madhya Pradesh and is a welll recognised Government aided institution. The college has a well developed laboratories since its establishment and has well furnished telecommmunication instruments. JEC formerly know as the government engineering college(GEC). This college was the first college in India to offer B.E degree in the department of Electronics and telecommunication engineering. This college has a lush green campus spread around the areas of Gokulpur and Ranjhi over 255 acres of land area. The campus is well connected to the nearby railway station by the distance of 6kms and to the bus stand by 9 kms.
