The Indian Law Institute (ILI) in New Delhi is an autonomous body and a deemed university which was formally inaugurated by the first president of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad in the year 1957. But the institute was setup in the year 1956. The foundation of the institute was laid down to promote and conduct legal research. The ILI New Delhi is registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of the year 1860. The Institute is known for the quality of education it provides to their students in the field of legal research and making Law as the instrument for the Social Engineering. Honourable Chief Justice of India is the Ex-Officio President of this institute. The enrolment of the first batch of the institute was admitted in the year 2005 in the L.L.M and Ph.D. Programs of the Institute.

The campus of this leading Law Institute of New Delhi is located on the Bhagwan Das Road of New Delhi. The campus is known for its library that is one of the best Libraries in the country with around 75000 books and has subscribed to around 270 current legal Periodicals.
