Government Medical College and Hospital Chandigarh (GMCH) was established to expand the medical learning upto new boundaries and also to lower the ever increasing population of the students at the existing medical colleges in Chandigarh. Chandigarh is an educational hub where a number of most popular engineering and medical colleges are running with the excellence. Apart from these engineering and medical, the city also has art colleges and architecture colleges for the people of the city. The Govt. Medical College Chandigarh was started during the year 1991 and at present, the campus includes 4 blocks of building for hospital and 1 for the College. For its MBBS program, the college is affiliated to the Punjab University. The medical college as per its performance is ranked in the top 25 medical colleges in India. The courses that are available at the college for the students include MBBS, MD/MS/B.Sc. programs. Apart from this the college also provides vocational training to their students and other from different institutions too.

The campus of the Govt. Medical College Chandigarh is located in Sector 32 area of Chandigarh. The whole campus is spread over an area of 36.09 acres of land which is fully embedded with all the modern day facilities and services which are available for the students in the college. The campus is well connected with the transport facilities as well.
