The Government Medical College Thrissur which is also known as the Thrissur Government Medical College. The college was established in the year 1982 and is one of the five running medical colleges under the management of Directorate of Medical Education of Government of Kerala State. Since after the establishment, the Govt. Medical College of Thrissur has become a leading centre in Medical Education in Kerala. This premier institute of medical learning is spread over an area of 250 acres of land and is affiliated to the University of Calicut and Kerala University for health and allied Sciences. The college was granted a permanent recognition by WHO in 1993 and also by IMC in 1991. The very first batch that was admitted in the college in the year 1982 was of 74 students and till then it has increased to tremendous heights. The college offers a variety of courses which include graduation, post-graduation as well as diploma courses. The Govt. Medical College Thrissur is known for the excellence it serves to the people in the field of healthcare and Medical Education.

Campus-

The campus of the Government Medical College is located in Mulagunnathukavu (M.G Kavu) in a lush green environment. The college is at a distance of about 14 Kms from Thrissur. The college campus also houses different hospitals within its campus. Some of the major facilities that have been provided at the campus are library, Post Office, Canteen, Lecture Halls and other basic requirements are fulfilled by the management and are also made available within the college campus.
