The Government Medical College, Kozhikode was established in the year 1957 and was the second medical college in the state of Kerala. The Institute is located in the Kozhikode city of Kerala and has become a premier institute which has grown to its extreme in the field of Medical Education since the days of its establishment. The campus of this premier medical college in Kerala is spread over an area of 270 acres. The Govt. Medical College Kozhikode is affiliated to the Kerala University for Health and Sciences (KUHS) and was formerly affiliated to the University of Calicut. There are several other institutions in the college campus also which include Government Dental College, Government nursing college, Institute of Maternal and Child Health, College of Pharmacy, Super-specialty block and Institute of Chest Diseases. The institute along with their allied serve about the 40% of the total population of the State. The total intake of the institute has also changed from 50 to 250 in the past years. The institute provides different courses like postgraduate, Super-speciality Courses, Diploma Courses and the Paramedical Courses too.

Campus-

The campus of the Govt. Medical College has covered a large area which is expanded over a sprawling area of 270 acres which inhibit several modern day facilities which are available at some of the major medical colleges of India. The campus is located in the east of the city of Kozhikode and is within the reach both from the Kozhikode Railway Station and Airport.
