Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET) is an engineering college located in Gunupur, in the state of Orrisa, India. It was established in 1997 with the approval of AICTE and Government of Orrisa affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology. It had applied for the status of Deemed university since the last 10 years before. GIET was an ISO 9000:2000 Certified institute for quality education. The institute had got its NBA Accreditation, which had accredited only 5% of the engineering colleges of the country on the basis of their education and infrastructure in 2004. The other facilities that it provides are the well maintained library, spreaded over 9000 sq.ft. of carpet area, has a rich collection of more than 19703 text and reference books. Also it subscribes to 94 numbers of national and International periodicals. Scores of audio visual teaching materials like NPTEL also adds to its collection. Hostel facilities are good and more than 1100 students prefer GEC hostel, medical facility is also proper. It has an added facility to grant Merit -Cum -Means scholarship from Higher Education Dept., Govt. Orrisa for every academic year for each student.
Admisson criteria:-
Candidate must Pass or must be appearing in 10+2 examination of CHSE, Orissa or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics, and one from Chemistry/ Computer Science/Biology/Biotechnology or pass in 10+3 diploma course in engineering including those having less than 60% marks in aggregate from SCTE&T, Orissa or equivalent

Companies like Infosys, Oracle, Mahindra Satyam, Hexaware, Honey Well, Capgemini, CSC, BMC Software, Vedanta, JK Paper, OCL, Adhunik, Enercon, Evonik, HP, L&T Infotech, Essar etc keeps visiting the college with highest percentage of campusing at the rate of 93% this previous years. This is the indicator of high voltage performance of the Institution. For 2013 batch, companies like Hexaware, TVS Motors, Path Partners, Simplex, Bhusan, Samsys, Sona Group, Royal Infra, TCML, Enercon etc. have already selected students, more companies are in mode to come and the institute has been moving fast towards its dream target of 97% placement
