G.K.M. College of Engineering & Technology, Chennai is a premier technical educational institution established in 1996 by Dr.G.Kathamuthu, Chairman, Suganthi Educational Trust with Dr.Sujatha Balasubramanian as Chief Executive Officer, Dr.K.P.Jagannathan, a high - flying researcher well acquainted with international education system as the Director, Dr.N.Ramaraj, a highly competent and well experienced teaching professional, as the Principal.

The college is located at 5 km off Chennai – Chengalpet national highway. (NH45). The campus is spread over nearly 22 acres of land and is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University of Technology, Chennai. It offers 9 UG, 10 PG and 3 Ph.D programmes.

The college holds memberships with ISTE, CII, MMA, IEEE.

The college has an effective QMS covering teaching learning and all other supporting activities and is ISO 9001: 2008 certified, by IRQS. The College is accredited by International Accreditation Organization. The college has MoU with Middle East University FZE, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering are accredited by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi. Department of Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering are permanently affiliated by Anna University, Chennai. Department of Marine Engineering is rated by CRISIL. The 26 weeks afloat training for the Marine Engineering students are offered in the campus itself through the state of art facility available in the “ GKM KAMAASHI ” – ship – in – campus, which has the approval of Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai.

Placement

The Placement and Training Cell is an integral part of GKM College of Engineering and Technology. It functions as a nodal centre with a vision of providing 100% placement for students.

More than 60 reputed national and multinational companies have visited our College for their personnel needs, so far. The Training and Placement Cell motivates students to enrich their skills by organizing various training programmes that aim to mould the students to meet the demands of the Corporate Sector.  A total of 92.38% of our students have been recruited in the various corporate and business houses till date.

To achieve our stated vision and mission, the placement cell maintains a cordial relationship with the various industries and brings them over to the college for recruitment drives.

The Career Guidance Cell helps students to define their area of interest and guides them to discover their passion of doing what they cherish most.
