D.G. Ruparel College has completed more than fifty years of glorious service in the field of academics, sports, performing arts and other extra-curricular activities. The College, affiliated to the University of Mumbai, has gathered the reputation and social recognition over the years as an institution second to none, a fact that is more than adequately proven by the commendable performance of our students at the Higher Secondary Board and University examinations; I.I.T., Medical and Management joint entrance examinations.
We encourage research activities among teachers and students. We have well-equipped laboratories, computers with internet access, and an excellent Library. The increase in research activities in the last few years is reflected in the number of minor and major research projects, collaborative research projects as well as patents filed by the faculty.
We provide students with opportunities to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, to help them acquire important life skills. Activities of the NCC and NSS programmes inculcate social responsibility, personality development and citizenship training among the students.
The welfare of students is our constant concern; the faculty as well as some alumni act as mentors for the students. Various schemes ensure that no student is denied admission due to inability to afford the fees. The College has oriented all its academic and administrative programmes towards the fulfillment of its Mission and Vision statements.
The Placement Cell was started by the College in the academic year 2006 – 2007 with a view to expose students of different faculties to job opportunities. Dr. Vikas Golatkar, Head, Department of Botany is the Co-ordinator of the Cell.
Many reputed companies have conducted campus interviews or have invited our students for placement interviews. Our students have secured lucrative positions in well-known companies like Tech Mahindra, Patni Computers, Packt Publishing, J.P. Morgan, Wipro Technologies, Wipro BPO, HDFC Standard Life. Despite the global economic recession, 38 students of our college were placed during the academic year 2009-10.
