Set up in the year 1991, Cummins College of Engineering for Women strives at its mission of developing women professionals who are academically and technically sound with strong work ethics and above all good human beings. The founder Maharshi Karve sowed the seeds of empowerment through education in 1896. Maharshi Karve’s vision of “women empowerment through life-enriching mantras of education” lead to the establishment of the country’s first Engineering college exclusively for women - Cummins College of Engineering for Women. The very institute stands approved by AICTE and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation thrice since 1998.

CCOEW offers five undergraduate degree level program and two post graduate programs in Engineering. From the Academic year 2010-11, AICTE & State Govt. has duly granted approval to the institute to start its Under Graduate courses in two shifts in the existing college. The institute is the first Engineering College to start the college in two shifts.
