It was established on 13 July, 1980 by the minister of Health government of Tamil Nadu, to accomplish the need for qualified pharmacists in the present scenario. It was established with the motto of imparting quality based education which is useful for society with dedication, continuous improvement of society. It is an ISO 9001:2000 certified institution which is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Medical University. It is approved by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education), New Delhi and Pharmacy Council of India. The main motto of the establishement of this college is to impart quality based education to the pharmaceutical students. It has well established infrastructure including all the facilities which are necessary for the students for their bright future. It has highly qualified and experienced faculty for the students. It conducts various extra curricular activities or events for the over all personality development of the students. This college is known for it's excellence acedemic record.

Thsi college as excellent placement record as most of the students from the last year got placed in various reputated organizations. It provides the placement cell to the final year students which provides various opportunities to the students. It arranges various interviews for both on campus or off campus. It conducts various pre-placement activities to train the students for their placement activities. The faculty assigned for the placement activities for final year students train students and get them aware about the placement process.
