The Institute provides limited Hostel facility, both for Boys & Girls at present. This has been arranged in three different blocks such as Raman, Tag ore and Vivekkhand Blocks in the Campus While the Girls Hostel is situated in the Township of Bakaro Steel City. The allotment of seats in the Hostel will be made on the basis of Merit. The institute has a team of young, dedicated and well qualified teachers in the Electrical, Mechanical, Metallurgical, Electronics and Computer Science and Engineering, besides those in the Departments of Applied Mechanics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. We also have a good team of Assisting Staff headed by an able Registrar. At the head of the team is Principal, Dr. B.P. Ambasht, B.Sc. (Engg.), B.H.U., M.S. (Wisc0USA), Ph.D. (I.I.T.D.). He is a retired Govt. Servant and had put in 40 years service in the Government of Bihar, and 2 years at B.I.T. Mesra before joining B.I.T., Bakaro in 1993. He had worked as Professor at B.I.T. Mesra. Sindari, R.I.T. Jamshedpur, B.C.E., Bhagalpur, B.I.T. Mesra. Moreover he also worked as Director, Science & Technology, Bihar and Principal, Bhagalpur College of Engineering, Bhagalpur.
