It was established in 21 August, 1957 and it is affiliated with to the Calcatta University with the motto of providing quality based education to the students. In 1963 the college came under the affiliation of University of North Bengal. It has well established infrastructure for the students including all the facilities. Girls and boys hostel are also available and they were established in 1962. Apart from these it has well qualified and experienced faculty who are available to help students in 24*7 hours. It offers the 3 years BA, B.Sc, B.Com Honours and General Courses.
It has good placement Record as most of the student of this college got placed in the reputated organization. This college provides various opportunities to the students for their best placement. They conduct various pre-placement activities to train the students. The placement cell helps them in all possible way to placed students in reputated organizations.
