ABOUT COLLEGE
Abdul Kalam Institute of Technological Sciences (AKITS), Khammam is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. It was established in 2007. The college offers courses at undergraduate level in various branches of engineering. Although Abdul Kalam Institute of Technological Sciences is a recent entrant in the field of higher education in India, it has managed to gain popularity, because of the quality education and its modern facilities.The Institute has esteemed professionals as their faculty members. It's their years of experience that acts as a guiding force to students.
Campus :-
The campus sprawling over 10 acres has several gardens, a pond, playground and plantation of over forty thousand trees. There are separate dormitories for boys and girls, each of them maintained by a Wardens and Matron. A Language Laboratory is established to improve the language skills of the students. The lab helps the students in improving their pronunciation, speaking skills, communication skills, report writing and documentation. There is a Central Library with more than 10,000 books at present meeting the requirements of all branches of Engineering. Both national and International journals are also procured for the updating of knowledge in different Engineering fields.

BEGINING
Abdulkalam Institute of Technological Sciences, Vepalagadda, Kothagudem, Khammam District has been promoted by under the aegis of "Global Educational Society", which was established in 2006 with Ln. Dosapati Venkateswar Rao as Chairman and Ln. Ch. Laxminarayana as Secretary and Correspondent. The Society is supported by other eminent personalities Ln. G.S. Shankar Rao and Sri. Ch. Ravikanth as Vice Chairmans, Sri. D. Kranthi Kumar as Joint Secretary, Dosapati Karthik as Treasurer, Mrs. Ch. Dhanalaxmi and Sri. Ch. Srikanth as Members.
STRENGTH:
The strength of this Engineering College is the highly commendable faculty with high qualifications and with rich experience, well equipped spacious laboratories, a Central Library which includes Digital Library and more than 22,000 volumes of text books under the supervision of well qualified librarians and a round the clock broad band internet connectivity, furnished hostels for both boys and girls, hygienic canteen and College buses.
Further, the institute has planned a systematic approach in encouraging and promoting talents in Sports and Games besides the academic interest, conduct of seminar classes, a scheduled guest lectures by the eminent personalities from other technical institutions and create Research and Development to enhance future growth of Science and Technology.
GLOBAL EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY (GES):
The Global Educational Society has been registered with the head office at 14-2-3/A, 2nd Lane, Venkateswara Colony, Gollagatta Road, Bhadrachalam-507 111. The motto of society is to impart education in the rural area with clear planning and execution. The locality in which society is set up is predominantly rural and the youth of this area need to be nurtured and groomed to face the global competition that is growing at a very fast rate. Thus, the society has established various educational Institutions which include Schools, Junior Colleges, Degree Colleges, P.G.Colleges, MBA and MCA and other training institutes for vocational courses as well as Industrial Training Institutions.

SPORTS
The Institute has given well importance to the sports activities and for promoting competitive spirit in the students and take part in different types of sports and games such as sufficient space for laying courts such as valley ball, foot ball, cricket, tennis etc. Besides outdoor games the institute has provided good support for the indoor games such as caroms, chess, table tennis etc.
The training and placement divison at AKITS will arrange campus placement interviews from various industries organisations for final year students of all branches of engineering. To meet the growing demand of quality teachers engineering colleges training and placement divison also identifies students who are interested in teaching career and forwards them to early induction programme conducted by AICTE, New Delhi. The department receives guidence from the senior faculty members of the college and also advisors from external professional bodies and leading HRD consultants.
