Dr. Ambedkar First Grade College is run by Dr. AMBEDKAR MEMORIAL EDUCATION TRUST. This institution was started by late Sri. D. BASHKARAN, Ex-Deputy Mayor in the year 1978 in the name of Dr. Ambedkar, the champion of the downtrodden, to impart higher education particularly to the downtrodden and weaker sections of the Society.
The College has developed a lot in various fields, since its inception. Within a span of 30 years, over ten thousand students have already availed the benefit of getting education from this institution. The college at present offers Pre-University and Degree Courses in Arts, Science and Commerce. The Science department was introduced from the academic year 1982-83, at P.U.C. level. At degree level BSc., Computer Science was introduced from the academic year 1997 - 98. The Management ventured into Management Studies from the academic year 1993-94.
Aim of the College
it shall be the aim of the Management to run this college in a manner benefiting the lofty ideals propagated by Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar. The college promotes the ideals of equality and human dignity.

Dr. Ambedkar College believes that each student is a valuable resource. The placement cell concentrates on each student to his/her right career prospectus and assists him/her in achieving the same. The students are placed through the campus recruitment programs. The Training and Placement Cell is committed to fulfilling the dreams of all those who graduate from Dr. Ambedkar College. Objective of the placement cell is to place the students in good companies. This is achieved through campus selections conducted in the college for which the students are trained in aptitude, technical and soft skills, much ahead of campus selections.The Cell believes in overall development of the students' personality, which will help them to achieve a rewarding career.
