Special Scholarship Program (SSP) for International Doctoral Student in Japan, 2014
Kochi University of Technology offers special scholarship program for international students to pursue doctoral degree within the department of Engineering at Graduate School of Engineering. The scholarships is awarded for one year but the term will be extended for increments of one year up to a total of three year, unless the university terminates the SSP student status for any of the reasons mentioned. Applications will close on 18 September, 2013 for April 2014 and October 2014 (first deadline) enrollment and 18 March, 2014 for October 2014 (second deadline) enrollment.
Study Subject (s): Scholarships are provided in the Department of Engineering at Graduate School of Engineering.
Course Level: Scholarship are offered for pursuing the doctoral degree program.

Eligibility:
To acquire nationality other than Japanese.
To have or have the purpose to acquire the “Student” status of Japanese residence, at the time of entrance, in accordance with the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act in Japan.
To have or to be likely to acquire a master’s degree before enrollment.
To have great academic records in both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
To be 35 year old or under at the time of enrollment.
To have a high English proficiency.
Scholarships Open for International Student: International students can apply for these scholarships.
Number of award (s): Number of scholarships is yet to be decided.
Duration of award (s): Scholarship is offered for one year but the term will be extended for increments of one year up to a total of three year, unless the university terminates the SSP student status for any of the reasons stated below:
In the case where a student report, submit in accordance with term 5-(2), is assessed as being below the standard for SSP students.
In the case of behavior which deemed inappropriate for an SSP student.
Amount of Scholarship:
International applicant are exempted from 300,000 yen enrollment fee.
Tuition of 535,800 yen (per year) will be exempted.
240,000 yen per year as SSP Scholarship upon application.
Up to 960,000 yen per year for working as research assistant.
200,000 yen for travels and initial living costs (Given only to foreign students who are living outside Japan, and who have, or have the intention to acquire, “Student” status of Japanese residence at the time of entry into Japan).
Selection Criteria: The submitted documents will be carefully examined in the course of the first screening. Only applicant who are successful in that screening will then be examined in such forms as an interview, an English written exams, an academic achievement written exam in the specialized field required for the conduct of the selected research project .
Notification: For April 2014 and October 2014 (first deadline) Enrollment: applicants will be notified by End of December, 2013(To be notified individually). For October 2014 (second deadline) Enrollment: applicants will be notified by End of June, 2014(To be notified individually).
