Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College established in the year 1977, is the first private Engineering College in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a self financing institution which owes its foundation to the bold and inspired vision of Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education, Vijayawada.

The institution is ideally located in a vast expanse of 24.05 acres of land on the out skirts of Vijayawada city at a distance of about 6 Kms from the city centre. The departmental buildings are located in close proximity each other with wide open spaces all around. The playfields and other student and staff amenities are within working distances from the faculty blocks.

The college was established for providing technical manpower initially in the fields of Civil, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Since then the college has continuously evolved itself to meet the changes in the field of Engineering. Undergraduate Courses in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering besides eight postgraduate courses in the fields of Structural Engineering, CAD/CAM, Thermal Engineering, Signal Processing, Telematics, Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science & Technology and Power Electronics have been introduced.

The College is recognized by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and the Institution of Engineers (India) and accredited thrice by NBA (National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, New Delhi).The college was granted Autonomous status by UGC in the year 2006. The college is affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.

The College has about 4000 students, more than 250 faculty and around 200 technical and supporting staff. The hallmark of the campus is the good facilities which cater to the academic and extra curricular interests of the students. The campus provides ample opportunities for developing extra curricular skills which include NCC, NSS, Students Chapters of IEEE, social clubs and sports & games. The Alumni of this institution have excelled in various spheres and are positioned very well globally in a number of leading Government, Public Sector & Private Organizations. VRSEC hosts inter collegiate fest namely Technofest (Technical and Cultural) event annually. These fests draw students from many of the colleges of South India.

The college has revised and updated the course contents and laboratory equipments from time to time to keep pace with the changes in technology and in meeting the growing needs of the industry.
