Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (SVYASA) is a University approved by the Government of India in the field of Yoga and Science. The University conducts short-term courses, long-term courses and distance learning programs. The following Apex Bodies recognize SVYASA as a University.
SVYASA has been recognized as "Scientific & Industrial Research Organization, (SIRO)" from Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology,Government of India.Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India (2001) has funded VYASA under the "DST-FIST sponsored scheme”.
University Grants Commission (UGC) mentioned to SVYASA in their letter dated in 1993 (D O NO. F.B-1/93) - SVYASA as one of the four premier yoga institutes in the country and simultaneously asked to start yoga centers in the Universities. At present SVYASA is running 5 centers.
Bangalore University has recognized VYASA as a center for running courses leading to yoga including PhD in Yoga.Grants for research & running courses are received from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Department of AYUSH., CCRYN, DRDO of Ministry of Defense and NIN Pune, India.
