After the success of HCL, he has been deeply involved with the philanthropic activities of the Shiv Nadar Foundation Shiv Nadar University (SNU) is a pioneering effort, of the Shiv Nadar Foundation (SNF) , in the field of higher education which aims to create a centre of excellence in higher education, which will be at par with premier education institutions across the world. The university has been founded with the goal to help India regain its ancient glory. SNU endeavours to become an exemplary fountain of learning. It seeks to be a leader in multi-disciplinary, research-led collaboration among faculty and students and have a strong focus on high quality, result-oriented education. When fully operational, the university shall have about 8000 students on its residential campus. Housed on a 286 acre campus in the National Capital Region of India, the university is going to be a GREEN project with LEED certification and a Platinum rating for academic and residential buildings. The built up area of the university in phase one is 1.8 mn sq ft.
