The Gujarat Agricultural University started functioning in June 1972. The university was established with specific mandates of promoting productivity of agriculture by pursuing research in agriculture and allied sciences. The unique feature of the Gujarat Agricultural University was a multi-campus set-up. The other three campuses were located at Junagadh, Navsari and Anand.

Placement

The university has a very active "Placement Cell" in place that remains in constant touch with the prospective employers to intimate their human resource requirement. On learning the requirements, the cell sends bio data of the upcoming graduates to the employers. A mutually agreeable date is fixed for holding interview at the University campus and the candidates are guided and trained for the written examination, interviews and group discussions etc. The arrangement for the interviews, written test, group discussions and personal interviews is made by the university as per requirements of the employer. During the last couple of years, thirteen on campus placement interviews were conducted by the various corporate houses / banks / other agencies. Since its inception the students counseling and placement cell has helped in securing good number of jobs for their forthcoming graduates and post graduates in various Banks (Dena Bank, State Bank of India, and NABARD) ,seed industries ,fertilizer companies and agricultural insurance company. Besides post graduate students are being employed in the State Government Horticultural Department in Deputy Director cadre. Majority of candidates has cleared the NET examination conducted by ICAR during current year.
