Indian Institute of Management Shillong, Was established in 2007 by Govt. of India.
IIM Shillong has been set up with a vision of expansion and mobilisation of facilities for offering good quality management education and research in the North Eastern region of India. The Institue is being constructed with a campus of 120 acres of land and all the urban facilities. A temporary campus has been set up at the Mayurbhanj complex of the North Eastern Hill University for the new IIM. A permanent campus in the new Shillong township is presently under construction.
 

The intake is taken through the common admission test is is conducted nationally in november every year.
The Post Graduate programme commenced in the academic session 2008-09 in the temporary accommodation at Mayurbhanj Palace, which has been renovated by state Government for the purpose. The Institute began the flagship programme, namely, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM), with an annual student intake capacity of 60 in the first year. This has been eventually increased to 100 in the third year.

All the Lecture Halls are designed with high tech infrastructure and are fully equipped with modern facilities to help students in their quest of learning . The Institute possesses a modern Knowledge Resource Centre with a keen focus on books, periodicals, national and international journals, working papers and dissertations.

Placement

The Indian Institute of Management Shillong successfully conducted its second Placement Season. The highly diverse batch of 66 students was placed in 24 companies with a total of 68 offers. Around 16 new companies participated in the process which is a proud testimony to the performance of the Pioneering batch and the growing stature of IIM Shillong amongst the industry. Selection process was greatly aided by technology with 33% of the offers happening through Video Conferencing which was also preferred by the recruiters.
