For the industrial development of Bundelkhand Region keeping view mind government established Engineering College in November 1981 Lasted this institute has been named Indira Gandhi Engineering College in the year 1985.

Initially in the year 1981 the institute was started in the education College of the University. Since December 1986 this institute started in the newly constructed building of Technical School. Subsequently in year 1985 Government of M.P. allotted 220 Acures of land near Baheria village just 10 km. Away from Sagar City. Where the following construction work has been completed.
